'Nepal Cycle Festival. Linking culture, Linking hearts.' in Kathmandu, Nepal Nepal

10 September - 06 October 2021

Nepal cycling festival. Linking culture, linking hearts.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic took a toll on the Nepalese tourism sector, thus, many associations and tourism entrepreneurs have decided to organise the second Nepal Bicycle Festival from 10 September until 7 October 2021. The festival aimed to promote tourism and active mobility. More than 500 people have registered to participate in this festival from 26 different cities of Nepal.

Mass tourism has never been good for the environment, on the contrary, it has contributed to its degradation through the conversion of protected areas into exploited travel destinations. Thus, the bicycle festival aimed to promote ecotourism, which is defined as a responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and sustains the well-being of the local people. This eco-friendly way of travelling is becoming increasingly popular because of its limited environmental impacts. Tourists are encouraged to preserve the local habitats and help local communities on a much deeper level than the mainstream tourism approach.

Moreover, the event wants to spread the positive message of boosting domestic tourism and encourage the government to create the appropriate infrastructures for the organization of more touristic events.

We invite you to follow the organisers on Facebook and watch the awesome summary video of the cycling activities.
