Detailed description (English): We carried out our activities with children aged 3–6 years.
Each class monitored journeys to and from preschool, recording whether children arrived by car, public transport, bicycle, scooter, or on foot. In discussions, we considered the impact of car exhaust on air quality and looked for ways to reduce it—sharing rides, using public transport, or choosing non-motorized options. With the teacher’s support, children suggested alternatives and were encouraged to make at least one trip by walking, cycling, or scootering, depending on distance.
Educational games:
Here Comes the Train – role-playing travel by public transport to different places (town, village, forest, meadow, riverbank), acting out activities like walking through streets, picking mushrooms, or feeding ducks.
Animals in the Forest – dramatizations showed how transport affects wildlife (noise, blocked migration paths). Children built “green bridges” and practiced moving in nature-friendly ways.
Walking/Riding – races comparing speed by walking, running, balance bike, scooter, or bicycle.
Guess How – children mimed their way of travel to preschool, others guessed.
We Ride – adapted car games in the schoolyard, using bikes and scooters. Teams identified by bracelet colors moved when their color target was shown.
Strong Legs – discussions stressed health benefits of walking and cycling. Sports in the schoolyard—running, jumping, and obstacle games—proved that active travel builds strong legs.
Detailed description (original language): Naše aktivity sme realizovali s deťmi vo veku 3–6 rokov.
Každá trieda sledovala cestu detí do a z MŠ a zapisovala spôsob dopravy.
Ide vláčik – cestovanie hromadnými prostriedkami do rôznych prostredí a dramatizácia aktivít (prechádzka, hľadanie húb, kŕmenie kačiek).
Zvieratká v lese – dramatizácia vplyvu dopravy na zvieratá (hluk, cesty blokujúce migráciu), tvorba „zelených mostov“.
Kráčam/jazdím – preteky, v ktorých deti porovnávali rýchlosť chôdze, behu, odrážadla, kolobežky a bicykla.
Hádaj ako – deti pantomímou znázorňovali spôsob dopravy, ostatní hádali.
Jazdíme – v školskom dvore sme namiesto áut používali bicykle a kolobežky. Deti rozdelené do družstiev podľa farby náramkov „jazdili“ podľa farby terča.
Silné nôžky – rozhovory o zdravotných benefitoch pešej chôdze a bicyklovania. Na školskom dvore deti behali, skákali, zdolávali prekážky a cvičili, aby dokázali, že aktívny pohyb prináša silné nôžky.
Target group(s): We carried out our activities with children aged 3–6 years.
Objectives: Build a positive attitude toward sustainable mobility from an early age. Highlight the health benefits of active movement compared to passive car travel. Broaden children’s knowledge about different means of transport. Foster responsibility toward nature and society. Inspire parents to choose more ecological and healthier forms of commuting.
