Detailed description (English): As part of European Mobility Week 2025, the city of Sivas will host a cycling event to promote environmentally sustainable transport solutions. With urban mobility being a key contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, the initiative seeks to raise awareness about the role of low-emission travel—particularly cycling—in improving air quality and supporting healthier lifestyles.
The program will include a public ride, awareness campaigns, and cultural performances to encourage behavioral change in daily commuting habits. By showcasing the feasibility and benefits of cycling, the event will highlight Sivas’ commitment to sustainable, low-carbon mobility and its importance for the city’s future.
Detailed description (original language): 2025 Avrupa Hareketlilik Haftası kapsamında, Sivas şehri çevre dostu ve sürdürülebilir ulaşım çözümlerini teşvik etmek amacıyla bir bisiklet etkinliğine ev sahipliği yapacak. Kentsel hareketliliğin sera gazı emisyonlarının başlıca kaynaklarından biri olması nedeniyle, bu girişim düşük emisyonlu ulaşımın—özellikle bisiklet kullanımının—hava kalitesini iyileştirmedeki ve daha sağlıklı yaşam tarzlarını desteklemedeki rolüne dikkat çekmeyi hedefliyor.
Program kapsamında halka açık bisiklet sürüşü, farkındalık kampanyaları ve kültürel gösteriler yer alacak. Günlük ulaşım alışkanlıklarında davranış değişikliğini teşvik etmeyi amaçlayan etkinlik, bisiklet kullanımının uygulanabilirliğini ve faydalarını göstererek Sivas’ın sürdürülebilir, düşük karbonlu ulaşım konusundaki kararlılığını ve bu yaklaşımın şehrin geleceği için önemini vurgulayacak.
Target group(s): Local residents of Sivas, including families, students, cycling enthusiasts, women and youth groups, sports associations, local NGOs, and community organizations. Special focus will be given to engaging schools, universities, and environmentally conscious citizens to create a broad public movement around cycling and sustainable urban mobility.
