Detailed description (English): As part of European Mobility Week 2025, the city of Edirne is launching a transnational cycling event to promote environmentally sustainable transport solutions. With urban mobility accounting for a significant share of greenhouse gas emissions in Europe, this initiative seeks to raise awareness about the role of low-emission travel—particularly cycling—in achieving climate targets and improving air quality. The festival will bring together cyclists from Greece, Bulgaria, and various regions of Türkiye, creating a platform to advocate for active mobility, multimodal transport systems, and greener urban infrastructure.
Located at a key junction between three countries, Edirne is ideally positioned to host a cross-border mobility event that emphasizes regional cooperation in sustainable transport planning. The program will include public rides and awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging behavioral change in daily commuting habits. By demonstrating the feasibility and benefits of smart mobility solutions, the event will contribute to long-term efforts to reduce car dependency, support energy efficiency, and enhance the overall quality of life in urban environments.
