Detailed description (English): Youth4Planet’s Program Manager for CreatiVelo Initiatives, Christian Thalacker, cycled the CreatiVelo multimedia e-bike from Kehlen to Luxembourg City. During the ride, particularly in painted "Bicycle Lanes," he observed that cars gave more space to him than they typically do to standard cyclists, creating a safer riding experience. Families cycling in Strassen also seemed more at ease, showcasing CreatiVelo’s positive impact in reducing car aggression. This experience sparked a discussion on engaging stakeholders to enhance bicycle infrastructure and develop safer, family-friendly bike paths, aligned with the SDG goals.
At Luxembourg City's 2024 Youth Book Fair, Christian, together with climate youth leaders Julien, Paul, Freda, and Natasha, set up CreatiVelo’s presence. They engaged the public with the question: “What can youth do for climate?” The responses, many reflecting SDG values, will be showcased at the UN Conference of Parties 2024 in Baku. Engaging in conversations with both pro- and anti-SDG attendees fostered constructive dialogue.
After the event, Christian and one of Luxembourg’s Climate Youth Leaders cycled around the city, discussing the potential for Luxembourg to scale Denmark’s active mobility education programs, traffic reporting, safety initiatives, and public infrastructure improvements. Christian proposed involving Luxembourg’s Ministries of Health, Education, and Transport to promote youth cycling and support healthier commuting options.
