Detailed description (English): The Capital Region of Denmark, together with Kinto, Green Mobility, Dott, and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), has received a grant of nearly DKK 10 million from the EU’s Horizon Europe to establish mobility hubs and test shared mobility services outside the largest urban areas. This aims to strengthen the existing public transport system by combining it with private mobility services.
Users will book and pay for their trips directly to the providers of shared cars and bikes. As a new initiative, they will test their business concepts specifically targeting customers in the outskirts of Copenhagen, where car ownership is significantly higher than in the cities.
Mobility hubs will be established in several locations: Nærum Station, Kulturcenter Mariehøj, Holte Station/Holte Midtpunkt, Birkerød Station/Birkerød Hovedgade, Vedbæk Station, Skodsborg Station, and DTU Science Park (private area). Here, users can primarily pick up and drop off shared bikes and cars, but in practice, they will also be able to leave shared bikes and cars in other locations within and outside the municipality.
This is a pilot project, supported by nearly DKK 10 million from the EU, which will test shared mobility with three providers from August 2024 to August 2025. The trial is part of a larger European Horizon Europe project, testing various elements and topics of shared mobility in cities such as Porto, Munich, Helsinki, Turin, Amsterdam, and Paris.
The scope of the trial includes 200 Dott shared bikes, 12 Kinto Share cars, and 20 GreenMobility vehicles.
