Detailed description (English): On September 21, the 922 Green Mobility Platform, in collaboration with the Shekou Community Car-Free Day and the Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Shekou, Shenzhen), convened the Opening Forum of the “10th Shekou Community Car-Free Day” in Shenzhen. Changhong QU, Deputy Secretary-General of the Urban Planning Society of China (UPSC), and Yixin ZHAO, Deputy Chief Engineer of the China Academy of Urban Planning & Design (CAUPD), addressed the forum with a speech and a keynote lecture respectively, both highlighting the 922 Green Mobility Publicity Events in 2025. On the occasion, the “Green Mobility City Handbook” from 2018 to 2025 was also presented as a gift to the Shekou community.
Detailed description (original language): The forum was moderated by Wenyuan WU, initiator of the Shekou Community Car-Free Day and a senior urban planner. Speakers included Jun WANG, Director of Project Division I at the China Merchants Foundation; Yuan HUANG, Secretary-General of the Shekou Community Foundation; Tao ZHU, Chief Curator of the Shenzhen & Hong Kong Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Shenzhen); Daizong LIU, East Asia Director from the Institute for Transportation & Development Policy (ITDP) Beijing Office; Jiangping ZHOU, Professor at the University of Hong Kong; Yu ZHANG, Research Fellow of CAUPD; and Hao KANG, Director of the Intelligent Transportation and Transportation Modeling Institute at CAUPD’s Research Institute of Urban Transportation.
The forum concluded with a roundtable dialogue on the theme “How Can Climate Anxiety Be Transformed into Actionable Hope?” moderated by Fu LI, Founding Partner of E Plus Design. Participants in the exchange included Daizong LIU, ITDP’s East Asia Director; Weiwen HUANG, Curator of the UABB and Supervisor of the Institute for Civil Regeneration of Urban and Rural Construction; Jianheng ZHANG, Visiting Professor at Shenzhen University and Chairman of the Institute for Civil Regeneration of Urban and Rural Construction; Ye YUAN, design blogger; Yu ZHANG, Research Fellow at CAUPD; Jiangping ZHOU, Professor at the University of Hong Kong; and Pengzhan DU, former Chief Architect of the Bureau of Public Works of Shenzhen Municipality. Within the global narrative of addressing climate change, solutions lie in the everyday choices of mobility.
