Detailed description (English): During the European Mobility Week (16–22 September 2025), residents of Eastern Slovakia can obtain a public transport card for bus travel completely free of charge.
Cardholders will not only save on the issuance fee but also on every journey – tickets purchased with the card are significantly cheaper than when paid in cash. In addition, passengers can easily load season tickets onto their card, making their travel even more economical.
The aim of this initiative is to encourage people to use bus transport – since with a transport card, travelling is both easier and cheaper.
Detailed description (original language): Počas Európskeho týždňa mobility (16. – 22. septembra 2025) ponúkame obyvateľom východného Slovenska možnosť vybaviť si dopravnú kartu na cestovanie autobusmi úplne bez poplatku.
Držitelia karty tak ušetria nielen za jej vydanie, ale aj pri každej jazde – cestovné je pri platbe kartou výrazne lacnejšie než pri hotovosti. Navyše, na dopravnú kartu si môžu cestujúci jednoducho nahrať aj predplatné lístky, vďaka čomu budú ich cesty ešte výhodnejšie.
Cieľom tohto opatrenia je motivovať ľudí využívať autobusovú dopravu – keďže s dopravnou kartou je cestovanie jednoduchšie a lacnejšie.
Target group(s): The target group is pupils, students, and workers who commute to school or work.
Objectives: - Encourage people to switch from cars to buses and show that public transport is convenient and affordable.
- Promote regular use of public transport through the transport card and season tickets.
- Reduce traffic congestion on the roads, especially in cities and during daily commutes.
- Contribute to environmental protection by limiting individual car use and thus reducing emissions.
- Make bus travel simpler and more user-friendly thanks to a modern and practical payment method.
