Born from the idea of celebrating in the year of the thirtieth anniversary of the discovery of Argil by Italo Biddittu, CULTURE, NATURE, ART AND SUSTAINABILITY in the heart of the Ausoni Mountain Park, in one of the most beautiful and richest area of all.
Set in the nature reserve with the archaeological sites of Fabrateria Nova, Fregelle and the archaeological complex of Casale di Madonna del Piano, the event offers three days of workshops, concerts, excursions, cycle tours and meetings on the themes of sustainability and "slow tourism". The sites can be reached by public transport and electric minibuses provided by local authorities. Mainly train + trekking + cycling or other forms of active mobility.
It will be the first edition of the PAESINFESTIVAL, an initiative that aims to become a reference event for slow tourism and territorial regeneration in the countries of the Argil Eco-museum and neighbouring areas.
The PAESINFESTIVAL is an active tourism project: an alternative form of tourism, out of the box, respecting the environment and the landscape. It also aims to enhance the communities and cultural realities of an area rich in history, cultural traditions and environmental heritage, unknown in southern Lazio.
Various activities will be organised, in particular the connection of cycle and pedestrian routes to the existing railway line (less polluting than other means of transport), and the promotion of cycling as a best practice of responsible and sustainable tourism. This tourism strategy, based mainly on active mobility, can only benefit the local communities in economic terms: those who cross the territory will use the shops, restaurants and hotels of the small towns.
The project of the routes linked to railway stations was born primarily with the aim of strengthening the links between the urban centres present in the municipalities, with a system of connections and itineraries. The aim of the project is to improve the existing routes and connect them to the railway stations.
It will also be essential to raise awareness of the importance of creating links with the EuroVelo 5 cycle route, which represents an opportunity for environmental improvement, a "culturally evolved" form of use of the territory and an opportunity to highlight environmental and cultural emergencies with the commercial and hospitality activities present, thus contributing to the overall growth of the territory crossed.
The project pursues objectives such as: maximum use and accessibility; sustainability in terms of duration, maintainability and life cycle of the works; simplicity of construction, quality and recognisability of the interventions.
Among the many perspectives offered by the festival on the valorisation of the territory and "slow" tourism, a strong emphasis will be placed on the discovery of natural beauty by pedaling along the Archaeological Cycle Route, to learn about and raise awareness of the cycle path project curated by the Eco-Museum Argil. Thanks to the bicycles provided free of charge to participants, the event is committed to promoting a positive impact on the environment through intermodal train + bicycle mobility. Stops in the historic centres with refreshments and local food tastings. Connections with railway stations.
With its many initiatives, the first edition of the PAESINTIFESTIVAL is a unique opportunity to promote a more humane model of tourism and a meeting place for responsible ideas and practices aimed at promoting a more sustainable future.
The proposed itineraries aim to link the main towns and encourage the use of sustainable means of transport for travel, in addition to enhancing the existing network of museums, in particular the archaeological museums of Castro dei Volsci and Ceprano, the energy museum of Ripi, the Natural Monument of the Caves of Falvaterra and the Rio Obaco. The creation of an integrated promotion of cultural events related to the municipalities involved and the creation of a festival that will take place in the multidisciplinary field of theatre, music, cinema, dance SLOW FESTIVAL with other public and private funding.
