Detailed description (English): Cycling Without Age is on an important mission: To give the elderly the right to wind in their hair. This happens when 3026 bicycle pilots every day invite elderly people who can no longer cycle to go for a ride in one of the country's 625 trishaws. In this way, together we strengthen the community between institutions and civil society and between families and generations.
The Cycling Without Age association is organized under the association's international umbrella organization, Cycling Without Age, which is run as an international non-profit organization. Together we attract committed people. Neighbors, friends, family and staff collaborate on shared good experiences on the red bicycles. Today, 3026 bicycle pilots are pedaling.
In 2023, more than 18,000 passengers came on a bicycle ride, where they could once again enjoy the city, the water, the forest or just the quiet country road. In nursing homes around the country, staff are ready to help, so that the bicycle can give people with dementia, people in wheelchairs and others who cannot cycle themselves, a greater quality of life.
The dream is that even more municipalities and nursing homes will make the bicycle a part of the house and daily life. Together we contribute to a greater quality of life for both the elderly passengers and the pilots, when enriching conversations and shared experiences arise.
Target group(s): Elderly
Objectives: We dream of creating a world together where easy access to active citizenship creates joy in life for our older citizens and gives them the opportunity to remain an active part of the community and the local environment.
We do this by giving them the right to the wind in their hair, the right to experience the city and nature up close from the bike path, and by giving them the desire and opportunity to tell their life story in the surroundings where they have lived their lives.
