Detailed description (English): One of the biggest mobility issues that affect Carlet is the morning rush hour. Most of the parents take their children to school by car, leading to heavy traffic congestion. To avoid this repeated situation, professors, parents and experts have planned three safe walkable routes that are going over the main neighbourhoods. These routes are perfect for children to walk alone to school, gather with classmates before entering the building, and take self-confidence about their city experience. Some volunteers will lead the groups with visible clothing and traffic signals, keeping maximum levels of security during the route.
Target group(s): Students, parents or students relatives and teachers.
Objectives: -Promote healthier and active modes of urban transport.
-Minimize noise and air pollution in front of the schools.
-Reduce car-use in daily short trips.
-Increase children independence on mobility issues.
Expected Outcomes: Between 5 and 20 children actively participated in the routes. Teachers were also interested and joined the “parade”.
Partner: The three primary schools of Carlet: Juan Vicente Mora, Bosch Marin and San Bernat.
