Detailed description (English): Since 2018 several partners work together to improve the traffic situation in Wiesloch-Walldorf.
The region around Walldorf and Wiesloch is a strong and growing economic area. However, the region is also highly burdened by traffic. In order to improve the traffic situation, the state of Baden-Württemberg and the Karlsruhe Regional Council, together with representatives of the municipalities, the district, the transport companies and the business community, have developed a series of measures which together form a new, future-oriented mobility concept.
It is essential to consider all modes of transport, i.e. local public transport, road transport, cycling and walking, and their interlinking. The corporate mobility management of the large companies SAP, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen and MLP located in Wiesloch and Walldorf also plays an important role, as a large part of the high traffic volume is caused by commuter flows.
Ultimately, at its core is the goal of a new, networked and climate-neutral mobility that can also lead to a relief of the road infrastructure in the Walldorf-Wiesloch economic area.
The mobility pact was signed by all partners in October 2018. In 2023, progress will be evaluated and measures and responsibilities will be adjusted if necessary.
