Detailed description (English): Next September 22 at 6:30 p.m. the PTP, within the framework of European Mobility Week, celebrates the 2nd Barcelonès Nord Transport Race.
After the first race, held in 2017, with the covid they tried to do a second one, but in the end it was not possible... but with the return to normality, this year we will do it!
In this second edition, we will start our route in the Can Ruti hospital, a reference point for Barcelonès Nord, and following the Canyet stream we will go down to our coastline, finishing the race at the Rodalies station in Badalona.
With the transport race we want to show to the public that cars are often not as competitive as sustainable mobility. The time spent searching for parking, stoppages due to traffic jams... means that cars are not always the fastest. In addition, we can also compare the emission that the use of each transport implies, being able to check how many times more the private vehicle pollutes towards sustainable mobility. Finally, the economic cost…. With the price of gasoline so high, wouldn't it be better to use public transport? And the bike?
Once the activity is over, a snack will be offered to the participants and the results of the race will be shown.
To encourage the use of public transport, T-casuals will be distributed among the participants, courtesy of the Barcelona MTA.
Target group(s): All groups of people are expected to participate at this activity.
Objectives: The main objective of the transport race is to calculate and compare the different transport alternatives between two points in terms of total travel time, economic cost, energy and emissions.
Partner: This activity is done in collaboration with the Metropolitan Transport Authority of Barcelona
