Objectives: We have been celebrating European Mobility Week for six years and last year we were unable to
make the march playful, and this year we have recovered it. With this we intend to sensitize both the
politicians and citizens, about the negative consequences of the irrational use of the car in the city, both for public health and for the environment.
It is also a good way to recognize the benefits of using more sustainable transport,
such as public transport, cycling and walking, for oneself and for the Planet.
The theme chosen this year by the European Commission is “better connections”.
In previous years, we have carried out audits of the bike lanes in our neighbourhood, we have carried out
proposals for improvements on pedestrian crossings and traffic lights in our neighborhood, and finally we have seen the works of the Casería bridge and the beginning of the operation of the tram that will link different towns in the Bay of Cádiz.
For us it is very important to hold the course to remember the rules on public roads,
learning to coexist in harmony with drivers, pedestrians and cyclists.
Therefore, we must respect each other and circulate according to their rules. Remember that if we go by bike the
helmet on minors is mandatory. We cannot be forgotten! With the bike, the helmet always goes!
Nor should we forget the benefits of walking or cycling to school. Health benefits and
well-being by exercising, making friends along the way, in addition to learning by practicing the
road safety and education standards,
This playful march also has benefits for the neighborhood, because in this way we favor that our streets
are alive, creating trust and good company, favoring small businesses in the neighborhood.
And of course it is beneficial for the Planet, since in this way we contribute to reducing the
pollution both in the emissions of CO 2 and greenhouse gases, as well as in the pollution
acoustics, reducing noise.
Lastly, we would like to thank and recognize the work of all the people who dedicate their efforts to
improve our quality of life and sustainable development.
