Detailed description (English): Carpooling is a solution for calculating the occupancy rate of vehicles on the road, which supports large cities in their desire to set up lanes or areas dedicated to carpooling. Carpooling is indeed an important lever for the decarbonization of mobility, a key issue for large cities. The solution can also be adapted to carpooling parking lots, and can help cities set up low-emission zones.
Developed in 2019 and commercialized in 2020, the solution is already used by some French and international cities. The City of Paris has chosen Cyclope.ai to carry out an evaluation of the Carpooling solution on the Paris ring road, at the Porte de Montreuil. The objective of this evaluation is to dedicate a lane of the Paris ring road to Olympic and Paralympic athletes and delegations in view of the 2024 Games. This lane would also be dedicated to carpooling at the end of the Games.
The Carpooling solution is also used in the redesign of the Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine bridge-tunnel located in Montreal, Quebec, on the St. Lawrence River. Cyclope.ai was selected to provide 3 vehicle occupancy detection devices to allow Renouveau La Fontaine to better understand the traffic around major roads and to decide - or not - to implement a dedicated carpooling lane.
The Carpooling solution is equipped with a GDPR compliant face and license plate anonymization software.
Target group(s): Public authorities and traffic managers.
Objectives: The Carpooling solution mainly helps large cities in their desire to decarbonize mobility, a key issue for metropolises.
