Detailed description (English): Voyages Morio is a French company specialized in road passenger transport services, based in the town of Grand Champ in Brittany. The company is involved in multiple sustainable development initiatives, in order to reduce its global carbon footprint, to improve social commitment, local development and economic resilience. To improve our carbon footprint, we have :
- invested in larger capacity vehicles (double decker coaches) 75 seats available instead of 49 initially
- chosen in to use biofuel based on rapeseed oil to run our buses
In October 2022, we launched the longest Flixbus line in the world to run on biofuel (830 000kms/515 000 miles realized per year on this line).Since then, 85% of the kilometers are realized using this biofuel, reducing drastically our CO2 emissions by 60 to 70%.
It helps to reduce CO2 emissions per passenger, to actually reach 7.3g/km/passenger (instead of 23.6g/km/passenger).
By choosing this 100% rapeseed-based biofuel, we are pursuing other objectives:
- About 100,000 users/ year can travel all around the country with a sustainable and affordable solution
- Supporting local agriculture: rapeseed is grown primarily to feed livestock, and then becomes a by-product when the edible oil market is not sufficient, so it helps farmers generate more revenue with their products.
- Keeping bees in our regions thanks to millions of rapeseed flowers.
