Target group(s): Families, children, adults who want to learn how to cycle, those interested in cycling as a transport mode in Tbilisi, BMX stunt riders
Objectives: The objective of this action is to promote cycling as a viable alternative form of transport, especially to those who feel they are unable to start cycling, either because they don't know how to cycle, or have concerns about their confidence on the roads. We will also interest children in cycling by offering a cycle ride/gymkhana, an interactive road safety lesson, a painting session and a spectacular display of BMX cycling skills
Expected Outcomes: This event will reach a minimum of 70 people of all ages, mostly families. We will have taught several adults the basics of cycling (there are currently no permanent programs to teach cycling to adults in Tbilisi. Local TV media will be covering the event (as well as our partner organization's mass cycle ride on the previous day) and through media we will reach a wider audience who will be interested in our future cycling interventions, be they cycling lessons, advocacy for better cycling infrastructure in the city and lobbying for improved road safety.
