Detailed description (English): Staff of the Government Office are offered to try for free well-equipped E-bikes for trips to and from work. This is to help them explore new benefits for the mix and move. Immediately on the first day, 40 of 500 the staff of the Government Office, already signed up for the E-bikes. The interest exceeded expectations. E-bikes are well suited for Icelandic conditions where wind and undulant terrain are common. E-bikes are easy to order, just as meeting rooms.
The project is an experiment and a part of the Government Office Climate Action Plan, that will set targets for greenhouse gas emissions reduction and carbon neutrality for the Government Office. Transportation will have a role in the Action Plan, both working trips as well as trips to and from work. The Government Office Climate Action Plan is under the auspices of the Governmental Climate Action Program that includes increased eco-friendly transportation in the society.
Detailed description (original language): Starfsmönnum Stjórnarráðsins býðst að lána vel útbúin rafhjól fyrir ferðir til og frá vinnu. Þetta er til að auðvelda þeim að skoða nýja kosti og velja sínar bland leiðir. Starfsmenn Stjórnarráðsins eru ríflega 500 og strax á fyrsta degi skráðu sig um 40 til leiks. Viðtökur fóru fram úr væntingum en reynt verður að bjóða flestum áður en mesta vetrarfærðin brestur á og haldið svo áfram á næsta ári. Rafhjól henta að mörgu leyti vel á Íslandi þar sem vindur og brekkur eru algeng. Hjólin eru pöntuð eins og fundarherbergi.
Verkefnið er tilraunaverkefni og hluti af vinnu við loftslagsstefnu Stjórnarráðsins þar sem sett verða markmið um samdrátt í losun gróðurhúsalofttegunda og um kolefnishlutleysi. Stefnan er í vinnslu en ljóst er að samgöngur munu skipa þar hlutverk, bæði ferðir á vegum Stjórnarráðsins sem og ferðir starfsmanna til og frá vinnu. Loftslagsstefnan er undir hatti aðgerðaráætlunar í loftslagsmálum sem tekur m.a. til þess að auka þurfi hlut vistvænni samgangna í samfélaginu og þar með að fjölga þurfi starfsmönnum sem ferðast með vistvænum hætti.
