Detailed description (English): Italy is lagging behind in the uptake of electric mobility, mainly due to the lack of a widespread charging infrastructure. On a national level public administration has highlighted the decarbonisation of transportation as a priority, especially in light of 2020 targets, but has not been successful in cascading a unanimous national plan. On a local and municipal level, in fact, action has been very uneven across the country, where a few regions or provinces have successfully implemented integrated systems, yet most local administrations simply lack they technical know-how and prioritize other actions instead.
Ancitel Energy and Environment has been supporting Italian local administrations in the implementation of sustainable waste management and energy strategies for almost ten years, interacting with institutional and industry stakeholders to develop effective and impactful solutions. We now want to support local administrations in breaking down the barriers to develop the infrastructure necessary to drive the uptake of electric mobility in Italy. The broader goal is to encourage as many municipalities as possible to commit to the decarbonisation of transportation in their territory by adhering to our Charging Cities initiative. Along with key partners, we aim at developing practical guidelines for local administrators, facilitate contact with industry stakeholders, develop an online platform for all stakeholders, including citizens and tourists, containing all necessary information regarding electric mobility. By providing tools, a network and key services we hope to initiate a practical and cultural shift.
Target group(s): Local administrators, citizens, industry stakeholders
Objectives: The broader goal is to encourage as many Italian municipalities as possible to commit to a serious of actions aimed at the decarbonisation of transportation in their territory by adhering to our Charging Cities initiative.
