Detailed description (English): Cambio is the Biciplan of the Metropolitan City of Milan and it is a network of primary cycling corridors for the whole territory. The Biciplan offers a network of cycle paths (750 km in the Metropolitan area of Milan), using the most advanced technologies and high-tech knowledge to grant a sustainable mobility in the area, to reach work, cultural sites, hospital and so on. In July 2022, the Metropolitan City of Milan has officially opened the first path, that links the city of Milan to Idroscalo park, its beautiful natural site. Through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, 50 million euros will be invested to realize 5 new lines: 70 km of cycle paths in 30 different municipalities. Cambio will change the mobility in the metropolitan area, thorough a new cultural approach and concrete investment.
Target group(s): The biciplan Cambio would be a network to get people moving. For this reason the main purpose of the Cambio network is to invite as many people as possible to use less private car and try out bicycle, for their daily movements.
Objectives: The objectives, to be pursued in quantitative and qualitative terms, have been identified, as well as the mobility demand and potential of cycling in the territory. Cycling policies are one of the most effective ways to promote physical activity and contribute to enhances the well-being of the population inside an area. Moreover, if more people use a bicycle for their daily trips, pollutant emissions are reduced and climate change is countered.
