Detailed description (English): Our mission
Urban Transit Lab is designed to raise awareness about the benefits of sustainable modes of mobility, focusing on walking and public transport as a vital dimension of a walkable city and a core feature of sustainable urban development.
The project also focuses on issues and stories of accessibility and the lifestyle of individuals relying on these modes as their primary mobility.
Our vision
The sustainable mobility shift requires extensive and inclusive participation from all areas of society in a holistic approach to more sustainable modes of daily mobility.
Urban Transit Lab focuses on highlighting the stories of inhabitants in their daily commutes as well as engaging the public in awareness on their mobility decisions, issues of accessibility & public space, climate action, participation & more.
Our Philosophy
Supporting municipalities and communities shift towards a more sustainable mobility paradigm requires collective and intensive efforts across disciplines and industries. Urban Transit Lab offers a media, advocacy and research-based approach in this shift. Our program focuses on transportation equity, sustainable mobility, community/civic engagement, and climate awareness.
Target group(s): We aim to have broad public engagement & via diverse partnerships, explore & address the needs of different groups in different contexts. Issues of mobility affect everyone & we value having a flexible approach in order to facilitate different programming that spotlights the needs & voices of diverse groups.
Objectives: Our objective is to, via our participatory media, research & communication approach, participate in & contribute to the sustainable mobility shift through the documenting & sharing of narratives of inhabitants themselves.
We believe in the importance of amplifying the voices of individuals who are already accustomed to & passionate about sustainable mobility as well as the potential to promote modal shift via our programming & partnerships.
Partner: Urban Transit Lab is a program of Fundacja Pedestrian Space (an NGO based in Poland).
Our partner organisation is also The Schumacher Institute.
