Detailed description (English): Industrie Mica Prahova and Drumul in siguranta weblog launched "Children and the Road," the first Romanian study regarding child behavior in traffic. The study approaches the most important aspects of the way in which the little ones understand traffic and their perception of the surrounding reality. Thus, adults must know that both children and teenagers have a different vision regarding the moving vehicles. Children are not little adults, and their parents hold the main responsibility as concerns their safety in traffic.
"According to recent surveys and evaluations, our country occupies an unwanted first place at the European level regarding deaths in road accidents," Ioan Matres, General Manager of Industrie Mica Prahova SA stated on this occasion, "Children are amongst the most vulnerable road users and require increased attention from adults. It is necessary to understand their behavior and the way they act or react on the road in order to prevent difficult traffic situations involving the little ones," the General Manager concluded.
Apart from approaching children behavior, the study suggests ways of protecting them in road trips, but also comes up with new ways of reducing road accidents such as as improved infrastructure. One of the conclusions of this study is that, unfortunately, the road environment is built without taking into account this vulnerable category, which exposes little ones to a risk higher than necessary.
Target group(s): 0-11 children and infants, 12-14 pre teens, 15-17 teenagers, parents
Objectives: The main objective is to create awareness regarding children behavior in traffic in order to minimize risks.
