Detailed description (English): Sustainable to School Action is organised under the European Mobility Week project.
The aim of the campaign is to promote and encourage sustainable travel to school and change travel habits.
All schools that join the campaign by signing a Letter of Intent and are successful in implementing sustainable arrivals will receive a Recognition for their contribution to sustainable mobility in Kranj.
For the 3 most active schools we will organise workshops on bike repair and maintenance.
All children who record sustainable arrivals to school (by bike, on foot, rollerblades, scooter or skateboard) in the municipality of Kranj and take part in the campaign, which starts on 11 September 2023 and runs until 29 September, will also be entered into a prize draw to win practical prizes from our sponsors.
To take part, schools need:
Sign a Letter of Intent
Ensure that sustainable arrivals of children to school are monitored and recorded (Sustainable Arrivals Table)
Raise awareness on sustainable mobility
Report on performance and provide a list of children who have arrived sustainably.
All those who have collected 10 sustainable arrivals will be entered into a final draw.
The Sustainable Mobility Contribution Award will be given to schools with 50% of their children arriving at school in a sustainable way for 10 days.
Target group(s): Primary and secondary school pupils. Additionally parents of participating children.
Objectives: Objective is to achieve awareness, desire and healthy habits regarding mobility among children. With participation of young among town population we are setting safer and more energy efficient, as well as cheaper way of mobility for daily routines. By encouraging the children, the secondary objective is to try to motivate the parents into changing their mobility habits too.
