Detailed description (English): A debate between some cities which have been winners of the European Mobility Week Awards, the moderator, and the European Commission – DG MOVE representative took place on November 15th 2022, where it was discussed the impact that this campaign has on the behavioural change of citizens and local authorities toward sustainable mobility in their towns.
Each participating city presented the innovations that have led them to win the award, and a lively debate between them showed the spirit of the campaign: to share best practices between cities and to promote mutual inspiration for a positive change in the way we move in Europe and beyond.
In addition, the European Commission representative explained the reasons why the EU makes a strategic and determined commitment to make its citizens aware of the need for sustainable mobility and the key role that sustainable transport and mobility plays in achieving the objectives of the 'European Green Deal', the EU’s roadmap to achieve a climate-neutral continent by 2050.
The debate highlighted the need for collaboration between all levels of government (local, regional, national, European Union) and its citizens to achieve more efficient, healthy, effective and, ultimately, greener and more sustainable mobility, concluding with a lively session of Q&A with an engaged audience. The debate was organized by Euromed Consulting Group, a consultancy specializing in sustainable mobility, within the 'Smart City World Expo Congress', the leading event on Smart Cities, which takes place every year in the city of Barcelona.
