Detailed description (English): This note is for reading prior to the details as elaborated in two presentations on BLUEMAN
Some pre-note points for reference:
• This is not an invention but just an innovative integration of available technologies.
• It is most likely that after you complete the reading you may feel that the concept is very simple and obvious. “How come nobody thought it before?” -- In 2002, I also felt it the same way.
• Please note that our current automobile (Car) be it using petrol, diesel, electric power, hybrid (and whether it is driver controlled or autonomous) is a resource-inefficient proposition since it uses far more energy to move its own weight on road than that of passengers on board (most of the time and which is true -globally).
• People have started thinking about cost-efficient “public-transport” and to make it convenient and attractive for all.
• I firmly believe that this is the principle uni-modal system we will use to move people and products on this planet earth in the years to come.
• Surprisingly this will be the safest, least-cost, eco-friendly, fastest and shortest project-time solution, which will bring vehicle to your doorstep—literally.
A Note on “Innovative transportation” concept
Global Problems specific to surface transportation (which we all know):
• Number of vehicles increasing every day on the same narrow roads thus causing traffic congestion, pollution and fuel wastage.
• Rural and remote connectivity is not improving at the desired pace due to hurdles such as land acquisition, infrastructure costs, low population-density economics and project management issues.
• Transportation happens to be the largest consumer of petrol and diesel and is thus principal source of global warming issues and hence is top priority under Paris agreement initiatives for most nations--developed as well as under-developed.
• Multi-modal transportation contributes to wastage of time and capacity under-utilization of societal resources.
Innovative universal solution to build public transport system which is unique in many ways:
• Ultra-light 5 to 6 seating-passengers type vehicles running on rails but having NO driving mechanism on-board. Vehicles are passive and Rails are intelligent with power drivers.
• External-to-vehicle driving-force-devices for complete control of vehicle movement.
• Multi-tier tower structure along the divider of existing roads with total width less than 15 feet and having two-tracks per tier. (Typical tower height of up to 50 feet max. above ground).
• Each tier passenger capacity in the range of 3000 (three thousand) per hour in either direction.
• Each tier material transport capacity in the range of 700 (seven hundred) Ton per hour in either direction.
• Possibility of Manual supervisory operation or totally automated vehicle control system operation which is integrated within total transportation management system.
• Inter-vehicle communication and automation to ensure Zero-Accident-by-design.
• Use of electric power which is primarily acquired using Solar panels located on the roof-top of the tower along the entire route. (Rail based vehicles consume significantly low energy per passenger or per ton).
• Same system with minor changes for City-Commutation as well as for inter-city high speed transportation. Thus, combining high speed features and last-mile-connectivity right up to points of passenger convenience/material-consumption.
Key benefits to Society and Economy (Priority and obvious benefits)
• Convenient, comfortable and time managed movement of people and products.
• Design is entirely based on actual Consumption-Chain requirements.
• Very low-total-cost and safest transport thus equally attractive for individuals as well as governments sponsoring these projects. (Investment, maintenance and operating costs effectively lower than present systems)
• Relatively smaller land occupancy due to pillar type elevated structure thus keeping most of the rural agriculture land available for farming with the farmers. Lesser land acquisition issues. In cities, land becoming available as “pedestrian paradise”.
• Universal solution hence high degree of standardization thus saving on project costs, reduced overall project time.
• Consortium business model will mean simultaneous and rapid EPC activities for multiple projects within and across nations.
• Significant business opportunities to both infrastructure as well as manufacturing organizations to start with. Service industries to follow.
• Significant contribution to the commitments as under Paris Agreement targets.
Present Status: In need of funding and all-out support to create a prototype-development project which will demonstrate and prove all the claims as above on the “Commercial Scale”. An engineering and costing team comprising of multi-faculty members will be able to design and develop this system using all the technology elements which are readily available across the globe. If this note has been found to be interesting then please indicate so that further presentation documents can be submitted to enhance clarity using pictorial views and descriptive details. This concept has been termed as Project BLUEMAN, wherein each letter represents one of its attributes which are explained in descriptive presentation.
Regards, Sanjay Balbhim Limaye
Note: Two ppt files giving pictorial and descriptive concepts can be sent for further clarifications.
Target group(s): All people in cities and rural areas across the globe will be the users of this system. Additionally considerable part of material transport will be possible. High speed mobility combined with last-mile-connectivity at low cost and environment protection are the key characteristics hence global applications.
Objectives: To free the ground space for walking, playing and entertainment. To ensure safe, cost effective, rapid transport in all urban areas. To enable faster access to facilities and markets for rural people and enhance productivity as well as quality of life for the humanity.
Expected Outcomes: Considerable reduction in hydrocarbon pollution due to use of solar and alternate energy sources for transportation. Rapid completion for transportation infrastructure projects across all nations thus achieving many UN - Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
Partner: In search of global organizations and governments to support this project BLUEMAN.
