Detailed description (English): Auchterarder will use a space on the outskirts of the town previously used as a Park and Ride for the Ryder Cup which was held at Gleneagles in 2014. Their intention is to use this as a Park and Ride for visitors, business owners and staff to use during EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK. As a result of consultations with the businesses, parking and congestion is a major issue within the town centre of Auchterarder, by promoting the Park and Ride and encouraging its use for that week they aim to demonstrate the benefits of not taking the car in to the town’s high street. This will work in tandem with a promotional event involving local residents, school and businesses to discuss sustainable travel issues and family-friendly cycling and walking.
Target group(s): Adults and children
Objectives: To reduce the number of cars coming into the town and encourage children to walk and cycle to school.
Expected Outcomes: More active community, less traffic and increased awareness of the other more sustainable forms of transport available.
Partner: Auchterarder Community Partnership.
