Detailed description (English): EDIC Madeira, in co-organization with the Municipality of Funchal and the Madeira Cycling Association, promotes the 1st edition of Funchal BikePaper “Discovering the city”. The activity, carried out using the bicycle, aims to test participants' knowledge of the themes of the European Mobility Week, heritage/culture, as well as their orientation and improvisation skills given the difficulties and challenges that the quiz script will provide.
The Funchal BikePaper has two races to choose from:
Short race
Length: 7 km;
Character: playful (without rating);
Performed individually or in teams of 2 elements;
Includes a Participation Kit (with official event t-shirt).
Long race
Extension: 21 km (height + 460m);
Character: competitive (with qualifying times)
Performed in teams of 2 elements;
Includes a Participation Kit (with official event t-shirt);
Prizes awarded to the 4 best teams.
Target group(s): General population
Objectives: The initiative aims to contribute to the dissemination and valorisation of the bicycle as a sustainable urban transport mode.
Expected Outcomes: With this initiative, it is expected that more people will start to use the bicycle in their daily lives.
