Detailed description (English): Next September 21 at 6:30 p.m. the PTP, with the collaboration of the Barcelona City Council and the ATM, and within the framework of the European Mobility Week, celebrates the 19th Barcelona Urban Transport Race.
Although last year we finished the race with pouring rain, this has not made us stay at home this year. This year, in addition, we have a very special and symbolic race: the PTP changes its headquarters and we will all do it together!
The main objective of the transport race is to show citizens that the car is often not as competitive as sustainable mobility. The time spent searching for parking, stoppages due to traffic jams, among others, mean that the car is not always the fastest. In addition, we can also compare the emission that the use of each transport implies, being able to check how many times more the private vehicle pollutes towards sustainable mobility. Finally, we must also consider the economic cost…. With the price of gasoline so high, wouldn't it be better to use public transport? And the bike?
To complicate the race a bit, not only will you have to go from the entity's current headquarters to the new headquarters, but you will also have to go through a place of interest in the city. Among the points you can choose from are Plaza Catalunya, Casa Batlló, the Arc de Triomf... To verify that you are indeed passing through the place of interest, you must take a photo in front of the monument, and send us the photo via WhatsApp.
Target group(s): All groups of people are expected to participate at this activity
Objectives: The main objective of the transport race is to calculate and compare the different transport alternatives between two points in terms of total travel time, economic cost, energy and emissions.
Partner: This activity is done in collaboration with BiciHub Barcelona, the Metropolitan Transport Authority of Barcelona, the Barcelona Council and the Government of Catalonia.
