Detailed description (English): To mark World Car Free Day, Bolt is urging citizens to leave their cars at home and use alternative means of transport. To mark the occasion, in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland 1000 electric scooters in each country are for free use on Bolt's platform.
"According to surveys, almost 60% of people living in cities use a private car on a daily basis and at the same time 64% of people consider congestion to be a major problem today. Electric scooters, combined with bicycles and public transport, are a good way to get around the city car-free."
In Estonia, Bolt is also transforming a car park on into a dog park to draw attention to how urban space can be used in a more human-centred way.
"Various studies show how cars are damaging to our mental health and general well-being. We jokingly wondered what or who would have the opposite effect on people? The correct answer is - our furry friends! Studies show that dogs boost our overall happiness and activity levels. We asked the question: in a city with fewer cars and more dogs, are people happier? To find the answer, we set up a large dog habitat in parking spaces for Car Free Day. We believe that in a happy city, there should be comfortable space for everyone - not just for cars."
