Detailed description (English): Sustanable Mobility Unit is a research lab at the National Technical University of Athens promoting actively sustainable mobility actions and policies.
This year SMU is supporting Greek cities like Athens, Drama, Kozani etc. to develop games and other activities and engage them in this year theme.
Activities include: bike festival, drawing workshops, bike miniature manufacturer workshops, card and board games etc. A special game is developed called PEZOPOLIS (''pedestrian polis'' inspired from walkability and monopoli game). Moreover, road closures, cycling tours, lectures and many more are organized to promote further sustainable urban mobility in... traffic congested Greek cities.
Throughout the year SMU is also consulting municipalities and stakeholders on the importance of the EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK campaign and its additional value as a promotional activity in the future of the cities.
Target group(s): general stakeholders- municipalities - local commercial and technical chambers - children and their families- general public
Objectives: promoting practices of sustainable mobility, identifying benefits of alternative mobility options, introducing common scientific knowledge in an easy to understand way to the general public, awareness raising
Expected Outcomes: information & awareness raising, extended families' attendance, short and long term benefits in understanding the needs for the cities' upcoming SUMPs
