Organising a week of activities, taking into account the focal theme.
Actions relative to the theme:
•Public transports: Free trips on Flexibus, Presentation of new inclusive transportation minibus in Trafaria, "Trips for Trash" action, "Hooray for Public Transport!" action
•Bicycle use: Bike's Night, Bicycle mini-fair, Bike Sprint demonstration and tournament, Bicycle rides, 1st Festival of Ancient Bicycles
•Walking: Hiking and running in Parque da Paz, Hiking in Jardim Urbano Costa da Caparica, Walking through Cacilhas Borough
•Live streets: Almada Fashion show, Mobility Festival, Street animations, Musical shows, Snacks Tour, Cacilhas Borough Gastronomical Contest
•Green routes: Presentation of Flexibus itinerary, Presentation of MOBI-E Electrical Mobility Plan

Carrying out a Car-Free Day event by closing one or more streets to traffic, and opening it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport. This should preferably happen on 22 September to mark your town or city as part of World Car-Free Day.
Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Following the policy of annual itinerancy of this initiative adopted by Almada City Council, this year the Car Free Day campaign will take place in Cacilhas Borough. On the 22nd of September, the Rua Cândido dos Reis, the main artery of the borough, will be closed to traffic from 7h00 to 19h00, with the exception of public transports and electrical or hybrid vehicles. The closed area corresponds to a 250 m long street, with a population of about 400 residents and where 32 commercial shops and establishments are located.
Implementing one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.
Permanent measures implemented this year:
New or improved bicycle facilities
  • Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
  • Improvement of bicycle facilities (parking, locks etc)
  • Other: Inauguration of BICILINK
Pedestrianisation
  • Create or enlarge pedestrian streets
  • Improvement of infrastructure (new foot bridges, pavements, road crossings, zebra crossings etc)
  • Other: Conversion of Rua Cândidos dos Reis into a pedestrian zone
Public transport services
  • Improvement and extension of the public transport network (creation of HOV lanes for public transport modes, new stops, new lines, reserved areas etc)
