Burgas organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2019, taking into account the annual theme.

16 September
- First school day in Bulgaria - animation for safe street crossing with masked heroes (mascots)
- Raising awareness as to the road safety traffic rules - sensibilisation campaign in a primary school within the city
- Creation of an interactive space within the city centre - including graffiti paintings on walls and luminescent paintings on the ground and other activities aiming to involve people to be part of the initiative Walk with us in Burgas. This event is called Journey with the little prince including numerous actions inciting especially young people to adopt alternative modes of transport in urban area.

Burgas Run festival - during the whole day (10 a.m. - 10 p.m.) different activities will be organised showing the importance of adopting alternative modes of transport and the benefits of walking, running, cycling etc. 2 main streets and 2 boulevards will be closed for the running festival.

Car-free day Car-free day

Burgas carries out a Car-Free Day 2019 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
During the World car-free day on the 22-d of September, Burgas Municipality plans to close boulevard Demokracia, St. St. Kiril and Metodi Str., boulevard Ivan Vazov and Knyaz Alexandar Batenberg Str. A running festival will be held with more than 400 participants. Parallel activities will be also organised promoting alternative modes of transport like walking and running as a new lifestyle.
