Aachen organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2021, taking into account the annual theme.

16 September
On the occasion of the European Mobility Week 2021 several events and offers will take place in the real-world laboratory Templergraben. The real-world laboratory was initialized in June 2021 to investigate the punctual discontinuity of car traffic with the perspective of strengthening the inner ring road of Aachen as a distributor for inner-city cycling. Starting from September 16th at the Templergraben information stands, workshops, a bicycle workshop, poetry slam, panel discussions and more will be presented to those interested. ; Aachen on foot. 17 September
Continuation of the events/offers at the real-world laboratory Templergraben including a panel discussion regarding the "Healty City"; Festival of Mobility - In the municipal place "OecherLab" as well as on adjoining outdoor areas the funded project ACCorD is presenting innovators' research vehicles and results. Innovative transportation (DuckTrain) will be presented. In the evening, visitors are invited to participate in the Future Talks with local innovators sharing insights into their visions for the future mobility in Aachen. The event is accompanied by different offers for young and old, such as slow biking.; On September 17th the exhibition "BITTE WENDEN" (roughly "Please Turn") opens its doors at the municipal space "Planbar". The exhibition shows posterseries done by students of the local FH Aachen University of Applied Sciences (design department). The students approached the field of mobility, transport and traffic from a information design perspective.; On the 17th the City of Aachen offers a bicycle tour guided by municipal planners for cycling infrastructure combining cycling with the provision of information on bike priotity routes (route „Campus Melaten“). ; As part of the municipal activities on road safety the City of Aachen is conducting the "change of perspective". The lord mayor of Aachen, a passionate cyclist, will take over the steering wheel of a bus of the local public transportation company. Subsequently, interested people may do the same. The limited ticket are being made available through the cycling app "RydeUp".; Aachen on foot. Continuation of the events/offers at the real-world laboratory Templergraben including parts of the events and offers in the course of the Action Day Mobility of the local education center (VHS Aachen). The VHS Aachen dives into the topic mobility turnaround in Aachen, offers a poetry slam with regards to mobility and provides a mobility training for improving peoples' movement potential.; Exhibition "BITTE WENDEN" (roughly "Please Turn") at the municipal space "Planbar".; Induction of designated cycling roads as part of the bike priotity route Brand (district of Aachen).; Bike night organized by the Radentscheid Aachen.; Aachen on foot. Aachen carries out a Car-Free Day 2021 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The recently initiated real-world laboratory Templergraben ("Reallabor Templergraben") is closed to traffic exept cyclists and public transportation and will be as well during the Mobility Week. In the real-world laboratory, information and events will be presented to the public.
