Cavan Town organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2009, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Cavan Local Authorities and Cavan Sports Partnership will lead the celebration of European Mobility Week 16 – 22 September 2009 in Cavan by:-
Opening of new footpath/cycleway along the the road from St. Pats College to Drumalee Cross (L2012), in the vicinity of Con Smith Park, Cavan.
'In Town Without my Car Event' involving the closure of part of Main Street, Cavan to vehicular traffic for one day during European Mobility Week,
A number of Arts Events, some of which will be on the closed section of main Street, Cavan,
A number of activities introducing women, men, older people and people with a disability to the walking route,

Car-free day Car-free day

Cavan Town carries out a Car-Free Day 2009 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Main Street, Cavan Town between the junctions with Thomas Ashe Street and Town Hall Street will be closed on the 18th, 19th and 20th September during EMW.
