Reykjavik organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2009, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Conferences, car free kindergartens, eco-friendly driving simulators, bike-day... all the weeks actions are relative to the theme.

16/9: opening of Mobility Week. New focus district announced. Opening of safe routes to school website. Music and refreshments.
17/9: Lunch meeting with politicians, experts and stakeholders at city hall
18/9: Parking at kindergartens closed for cars thus transformed to playgrounds for the children
19/9: Bike day. Bikers gather from the suburbs and ride to the city hall where a bike race, BMX-stunts and downhill races have been organized. City mayor and neighbour town mayors join the bike parade and ride together to the City hall.
20/9: Citizens are encouraged to leave their cars at home. Idea meeting with "Carfree Lifestyle" on how to make the city more liveable and transport friendly.
21/9: Treasure hunt on the bus. Tickets to the Cinema have been hidden on various busses in the city. Also eco-friendly driving simulators are introduced at the city´s help desk at Borgartun 12-14
22/2: The City Mayor opens the city´s first woonerfs and bike parades are organized in the city.
