Galway City Council organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2011, taking into account the annual theme.

Newspaper Adertising Campaign to promote Public Transport, Walking & Cycling as well as to inform vehicle users of the hazards indescriminate parking causes to these 3 transport modes.

Street Advertising Campaign aimed at motorists to encourage them to move from private transport to more Sustainable Transport Modes.

Car-free day Car-free day

Galway City Council carries out a Car-Free Day 2011 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
Close Middle Street & Cross Street from 8am to 7pm – This is to encourage Pedestrian Movements in the City Centre.
