Cork County organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2012, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Cork County Council has signed up the the National Tranport Authority's Smarter Travel Scheme. This participation reinforces the Council's commitment to be a laeder in the promotion of sustainable transport.

As part of European Mobility Week, Cork County Council commits itself to developing an integrated sustainable transport network to serve the commuting and leisure needs of its citizens, as well as supporting initiatives being undertaken by adjoining local authorities.

The Council will promote European Mobility Week via a media campaign and the organisation of media friendly events.

Flags highlighting European Mobility Week will be displayed on the Council's County hall Campus.

The Council will host a cycling school for primary school children on its own campus during European Mobility Week.

The Council will host daily lunchtime public speakers during European Mobility Week on sustainable transport.

A staff bicycle scheme will be launched during European Mobility Week.

The County Hall Campus will be used to facilitate sustainable transport displays during European Mobility Week, including displays sponsored by electric cars retailers, bicycles retailers, equipment providers and public transport providers.

Council staff will be incentivised to walk/cycle to work during European Mobility Week via the provision of free bicycle servicing and free breakfasts.
