Brno (City of Brno) organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2015, taking into account the annual theme.

All week
Activities relative to the theme:

• Promotion of public and urban transport – promotion of European Trolleybus Day and the CIVITAS 2MOVE2 project, visit of the Central Control Room of the Integrated Transport System of the South Moravian Region.

• Promotion of carsharing.

• Promotion of physical activities and sports – inline skating around the city, cycling, walking promotion.

• Activities to promote injury prevention in traffic and sport.

Main activities:

• September 16–22: Safe at playground, safe on road – Events for children from primary schools aimed at preventing cyclists and pedestrians from traffic accidents.

• September 16: Traffic Snake Game – information on a campaign for primary school teachers.

• September 16–18: Cycling for work, for shopping, for kindergarten – a presentation of means of transportation suitable for urban transport.

• September 17: Be safe not only on cycling path – A preventative campaign of the Czech Police on the cycling path designated for cyclists and inline skaters.

• September 17–18: Informative visit of the Central Control Room of the Integrated Transport System of the South Moravian Region.

• September 18: Maternity leave in motion with Strollering® – presentation lecture of Strollering for mums with babies in prams.

• September 18: From place to place – an entertaining event for children to support movement.

• September 18: Alternative transport solutions – searching for alternative ways of transport and presentation of the carsharing.

• September 19: 7. CIVITAS Day and 6th European Trolleybus Day – promotion projects to public.

• September 19: Inline skating around Brno.

• September 19: Critical mass ride – a bike ride to support cycling in the city.

• September 20: Healthy movement for all – an event for the whole family to try untraditional means of transportation, athletics and other sports games.

• September 20: History of the Lužánky park – a guided tour of the most important Brno park.

• September 22: My urban public transport – an exhibition of winning snapshots of a photographic contest for the public.

• September 22: Car Free Day – it runs also without – Motivation for children to use ecological means of transportation on their journey to school.

New or improved bicycle facilities
Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)
Public transport services
Improvement and extension of the public transport network (creation of HOV lanes for public transport modes, new stops, new lines, reserved areas etc)
Use of ecological vehicles for public transport fleets
• 5 public transport buses going to the touristic location have been equipped with bicycle carriers.

• Completion of the Analytic part of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan of the City of Brno.

• Purchase of 88 low floor buses with ecological CNG engines and 30 low floor large capacity trolleybuses within the renewal of the public transport rolling stock.

• Introduction of the option of card payment for fare in public transport vehicles serving the Brno airport.

• Completion of an extensive reconstruction of the tram track at the Milady Horákové street with new bus lanes to accelerate public transport.

• Continuing in barrier-free adjustments of public transport safety islands.

• 5 one way streets were made accessible in both directions to cyclists.

• Marking a cycling path at the right bank of the Svratka river, along a touristic path.
