Here is the content of Car-Free Day activities:

Fancy Women Cycling Tour, Izmir

Sema Gür ,has organized the ‘’fancy women cycling tour’’ for the first time in 2013 on World Car Free Day. Sema wanted to show everyone that women can ride a bicycle and can do it even with frilly skirts,fancy dresses and with high- heeled shoes.
Sema created an event on Facebook and invited her friends to join her to cycle in the city on World Car Free Day. Almost 250 ‘’fancy’’ women participated the city tour with their flower-decorated bicycles.
She has created a facebook event and invited her friends. There were more than 500 women all dressed up for this very special event. In 2014 there were almost 1000 women who met in Konak Square and cycled in the city center.
The cycling route for the event is easy and short
(approx 5 km). 5 participation conditions are:
1- You have to be a woman
2- You have to be fancy
3- You should come with a fancy bicycle
4- Able to cycle max. 10km/h
5- be able to wave your hand while cycling
This event will be organized every year world car free day for awareness purposes.
If women use bicycles, everyone would do the same, because this is a proof that the city is safe for cycling.

İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi (Izmir Metropolitan Municipality) implements one or more new permanent measure(s), which contribute(s) to modal transfer from private car to environmentally sound means of transport.

New or improved bicycle facilities
Improvement of bicycle network (creation of new lanes, extension, renovation, signposting etc)

Car-free day Car-free day

İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi (Izmir Metropolitan Municipality) carries out a Car-Free Day 2016 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.

Zone opened to residents on Car-Free Day:
The activity is planned on 22th September.
Plevne Boulevard will be announced as car free area for 24 hours. Plevne Boulevard is the main connection road that unites two main squares (Gundoğdu Square and Lozan Square). Both squares are the main areas in which cultural and political actions, demonstrations are being held.
Plevne Boulevard is 650 meters long and it hosts one elementary school, several cafes and pubs, shopping and cultural activities. It is a place stands at the centre of the city and live for 24 hours. There will be;
