Sigulda organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2019, taking into account the annual theme.

16 September
1. Book exchange point (free library) opening event.
At Book exchange point everyone will be able to take and share books or poetry collections.

2. Car-sharing point opening event.

3. Walking challenge, listing the kilometers in the Endomondo app.
The route goes through Latvian composer Alfreds Kalnins significant places in Sigulda. www.endomondo.com/challenges/41330906. Those, who have participated in the walking challenge, will automatically participate in the surprise prize draw. Three lottery winners will be awarded on Sunday, September 22nd, around 2 p.m. during the “Car-Free Day” event at Sigulda Railway station square.

4. During the Mobility Week, from 16th of September to 22th of September the Municipal Police inspectors will pay particular attention to road safety near schools and kindergartens riding by bike.
17 September
Sigulda District Municipal Police inspectors will visit the preschool education group of More Elementary School and kindergartens – “Ābelīte” and “Tornīši” to teach children about safety in road traffic.
18 September
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. children, adolescents and their parents are invited to participate the event “Esi zinošs, esi drošs!” (“Be aware, be safe!”), where the specialists of the emergency services will invite to get acquainted with the work of the services and inform about the situations when and how they can get help. www.sigulda.lv/public/lat/jaunumi/17874/
20 September
To find suggestions for infrastructure improvements in the city the Mayor of Sigulda District Municipality – Uģis Mitrevics, members of the Municipal Police and Municipal Administration will go on a traditional bicycle tour of the city.
22 September
“Car-Free Day” – several educational and exciting events for children and adults alike:
- #1 panel discussion with families and children about safety in traffic;
- safe and protective equipment examples for cyclists, scooter rider and etc.;
- #2 panel discussion “Why a cyclist is developing the economy
?” (participants – Mayor of Sigulda District Municipality – Uģis Mitrevics, traffic infrastructure planner Viesturs Laurs, Chief of Sigulda Municipal Police Māris Riekstiņš);
- demonstration of braking distance at speeds of 30 and 50 km/h;
- photo orientation challenge for cyclists organized by Youth Initiative Center “Mērķis”;
- test drive with electric scooter, electric moped, electric car;
- bicycle workshop;
- mobile “Sigulda ice-cream” bike;
- cycling exercises for children;
- to keep road traffic speeds down to a safe level, there are planned to implement 30 km/h zone in the center of Sigulda. The map of 30km/h zone everyone will be able to see at the event;
- also, everyone will be able to see variations of bicycle rack layout. It is planned to place the best option of them in Siguldas infrastructure in the future.
