Activities within the week Activities within the week

San Lawrenz organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2021, taking into account the annual theme.

17 September
Friday 17th September: Launching of this week with the help of having prominent people from the locality (eg. the Mayor, councillors, parish priest, etc) making use of public transport, cycling etc.
18 September
Launching and distribution of an informative booklet to the whole locality promoting the importance of staying healthy and having a sustainable community. The Pjazza San Lawrenz, Cangura Street and Trejqet l-10 t’Awissu will be all closed to traffic to host a car free day which will include entertainment in the main square for people passing by.
19 September
A competition between families and friends will take place by participating in talking walks near the beach or in the countryside within their own private bubble. Images can be uploaded on the Facebook page with a hashtag europeanmobilityweeksanlawrenz2021.
20 September
A questionnaire will be launched online so that residents can voice their opinion towards sustainable modes of transport and different sustainable mobility measures that the Local Council is planning or considering implementing, to enhance road safety and sustainable mobility.
21 September
Today, a special online seminar will be launched for all the community. The talk will be led by the Mayor on how San Lawrenz will be preparing for the future in regards to the improvement of sustainable transport and the health of the community in general. This shall be posted by means of ‘Facebook live’.
Afterwards, a promotional campaign will be launched, were those that use any means of sustainable transportation such as cycling or public transport, can take a selfie and upload it on the Local Council Facebook page.
22 September
Another edition of “Walking to School” will be launched this year. From today, children will be encouraged to walk to school and to join their friends to go to activities such as ‘Skola Sajf’ and other extra curricular activities. At the end of this activity a momentum will be given to the San Lawrenz Primary School for their contribution in the organisation of such activities and for contributing with the local council’s last year initiative in the campaign “Walking to School”.

Car-free day Car-free day

San Lawrenz carries out a Car-Free Day 2021 and closes off one or more streets to traffic, and opens it to pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
