Monaghan County Council organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2021, taking into account the annual theme.

16 September
Monaghan Sports Partnership have put together specially designed bicycle packs for children across the county who have a keen interest in cycling and who regularly cycle. These packs include lots of goodies, which will teach children about cycle safety and also tools to help them work on their own bikes. These packs will be available for collection through your local libraries.

Monaghan Sports Partnership have organised a women's only guided cycle of the famous beautiful Bragan and Sliabh Beagh area. This cycle is suitable for absolute beginners and ensures that all women taking part will have a bit of fun while getting exercise on their bike.
17 September
Beech Hill College Secondary School will host a bike to school day. Targeted at 1st year students the day will include cycling obstacle courses and treasure hunts on the school grounds on their bikes. TY students will also incorporate their bikes into PE Classes on the day.

In partnership with the Road Safety Officer and Monaghan County Libraries the Active Travel Unit launched their 2021 Art Competition. Promoted to all local primary schools, we are asking children to send in their posters, poems or comic strips which increase awareness around Active Travel and encourage people to make a positive change. Winning entries will be displayed in a prominent location locally during the Halloween Holidays.

Guided Family Walks of Sliabh Beagh
If you have you never been to the incredible Sliabh Beagh or have thought about taking the family for a cycle of the beautiful area, then this is the event for you and your family. This cycle is suitable for all the family and all are welcome. You can bring your own bikes or avail of bikes provided by Sliabh Beagh Adventures. Sliabh Beagh Adventures also have some bike trailers, tag along bikes etc. A bike pack will be provided to all families taking part. Children must be accompanied by an adult and be able to independently cycle. All cyclists must also wear helmets.

Adults Guided E-Bike Tours of Sliabh Beagh
An electric bike is very similar to a standard bike but offers you a little bit of support on longer distances or on hilly parts of the road. If you have ever wanted to try an E-Bike or to take a guided tour of the beautiful Sliabh Beagh area, then this is your chance.

Guided Family Cycles Along Monaghan Greenway
Would you and your family like a leisurely cycle along the Monaghan Greenway to the fabulous Rossmore Park. If so, then sign up for one of these guided family cycles. The cycle will begin at the carpark of Grahams of Monaghan and head through the Greenway and into Rossmore Park. There will be a 15-20 minute stop at Rossmore Park for a small snack (please bring a few snacks) and then a return cycle through the Greenway back to the starting point.

Launch of E-Bike scheme to Monaghan County Council staff.
10 electric bikes were procured for staff and will be distributed to 5 different council buildings. These bikes can be used by staff or councilors during working hours for work or leisure purposes.
