Further info
Bicycles: we have launched an improved version of our city bikes, in collaboration with different private entities we launched Fölläri-bikes in July with 700 bikes and a season extending until the end of October. We have also introduced our first bike street, granting right of way to bikes in the Kauppias Hammar street, more are to follow. With the expansion of the Fölläri bikes, we also added to the infrastructure increasing the number of rails for parking bikes, also for private use. Finally, we have placed out service stations where people can make small repairs and add air to their tires, the stations use the newly launched regional bicycle brand with the slogan Ilo Pyöräillä - the joy of biking.
Busses: the regional collective transports agency Föli, has continued their work in electrifying their fleet.
Educational materials: As a part of our Horizon 2020 project Scale-Up we are addressing the lack of biking skills that many children in our schools are facing. We noticed that the use of bicycles has decreased among the students and in an effort to raise awareness of the benefits of using bicycles, walking and public transports in the everyday mobility, the project seeks to create opportunities for children to develop their skills with biking tracks on the school yards.
