Aradippou organises activities during EUROPEANMOBILITYWEEK 2022, taking into account the annual theme.

16 September
Action 1
Bike to work-_The mayor, the council members and all employees, are going to use their bikes to reach the City Hall.

Action 2
8:00-12:00 The parking area will be transformed into a children's playground themed around cycling. In collaboration with the Traffic and Police Department of Aradippou, Fifth and Sixth grade Primary School children have the right to participate, always accompanied by school officials. The courses are booked every 20 participants per 25 minutes.

9:00-12:00 GET TO KNOW PUBLIC TRANSPORT – In collaboration with Cyprus Public Transport, citizens will have the opportunity to get to know the services provided, the itineraries, the innovations offered by the brand new bus fleet, as well as benefit from free routes within the framework of the European Mobility Week. 8:00 CYCLING – An action in which experienced cyclists from 18 years and above can participate. A route of approximately 16 kilometers, which will connect Trulli and Kelia with Aradippou and count kilometers for "Better Connections". Learn details and how you can participate here: BICYCLE

9:00 WALKING – A course of approximately 6 kilometers that starts from the new park next to Lazos in Viomichaniki of the Municipality of Aradippou and ends at Archiepiscopo Makariou III. Learn details and how you can participate here: WALK

8:00-21:00 CAR FREE DAY– Archiepiskopou Makariou III will remain closed to cars throughout the day, but open to citizens. Exhibitions and special events during the day

10:00-11:00 AWARDS – Archbishop Makariou III will welcome the participants in the BIKE & WALK actions, where the awards will be given to the participants.

18:00-19:00 KIDS RACE – Bicycle races for children aged 3-6 years, 7-9 years and 10-12 years will be held along Archiepiskopou Makarios III. Learn details and how you can participate here: KIDS

10:00-10:30 PROGONISTO - In this specific action we will have the honor and pleasure of hosting distinguished athletes of the National Cycling Team with international successes to talk to the students about cycling. This event will be hosted at Aradippou High School "Tassos Mitsopoulos"

ALL DAY ACTION INFORM by CITIZENS – Groups of citizens will participate in an information campaign throughout the geographical area of ​​the Municipality of Aradippos with material that will be attached to all vehicles parked illegally and/or obstructing the passage of pedestrians, cyclists and PWDs.

11:00-12:00 I TALK TO A LEGEND – Christos Volikakis will be invited to an interview with participants from all schools, as well as those who wish to ask their questions to the cycling legend from Greece. Christos Volikakis is the first Greek to win a gold medal in a World Championship. He has won 4 medals in World championships, 9 medals in European championships and several medals in World cups. He won 2 gold medals at the European Olympic Games in Minsk 2019, as well as flag bearer at the closing ceremony of the games. Bronze Medal at the 2019 World Cup in St. Petersburg. He has been crowned World Cup Winner in the years 2019-2020 2018-2019, 2011-2012 while in 2014-2015 & 2016-2017 he was in second place. He has participated 4 times in Olympic Games: in Beijing in 2008, in London in 2012, in Rio in 2016 and in TOKYO in 2021. He has won over 90 gold medals in Panhellenic Championships, holds 11 national records and is in 1st place of the World ranking in the scratch event, in 1st place in the omnium event and in 3rd place in the points race event. 17:00-21:00 INFORMATION VILLAGE – An information village will be set up inside the Park next to Lazos in the industrial area with the participation of government agencies, companies and additional activities. Details of the participants will be announced soon. A closing ceremony of the European Mobility Week will take place at the venue, where the message that the Municipality of Aradippou will send to Europe will be revealed. In the area there are games for small children, a skating rink will be set up, stands of government bodies and companies that will distribute informational materials, but also a bus from Public Transportations, a police information Van and an electric vehicles exhibition . A food corner will be available for the public.
