Detailed description (English): EIT Urban Mobility is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT). Since January 2019 we have been working to encourage positive changes in the way people move around cities in order to make them more liveable places. We aim to become the largest European initiative transforming urban mobility. Co-funding of up to € 400 million (2020-2026) from the EIT, a body of the European Union, will help make this happen.
EIT Urban Mobility has five Innovation Hubs forming geographical corridors across Europe. Innovation Hub Central - based in Munich - supports partners located in: Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Slovenia, Croatia, and Turkey, and encourages institutions and cities from these countries to join this European initiative for transforming urban mobility.
On the occasion of the inauguration of Innovation Hub Central's new office in the Munich Urban Colab, EIT Urban Mobility will be co-organising site visits to mobility-related places in Munich in collaboration with the City of Munich, on 21 September at 15:00.
The tour (3.1 km) starts in Marienplatz, leads past planned extension of pedestrian zones in Tal, summer streets in Westenriederstraße and Holzplatz, logistics micro hub in Glockenbach, and ends at the mobility hub in Piazza Zenetti. Participants will be able to spot some „Schanigärten“, as well as bicycle and e-parking facilities along the way from Altstadtring to Holzplatz.
The walking tour is organised in a way that complies with the current Covid-19 regulations, with a maximum of 20 participants per group.
Target group(s): Representatives from cities, universities, research institutions, industry and start-ups.
In view of the current COVID19 restrictions, participation in the event is upon invitation only.
