Detailed description (English): On the occasion of the ‘European Mobility Week’, CCOO has once again emphasized the need to promote measures aimed at a more environmentally sustainable society. For this, the union considers that mobility has to play a leading role, and advocates for measures that strengthen and prioritize public transport to halt the mitigation of emissions and avoid an economic collapse. “It is absolutely necessary for public administrations to initiate an information and promotion campaign for public transport to recover, at least, the number of female and male travellers prior to the health crisis, adopting all the necessary measures that guarantee transport users public safe trips ”.
The power station thus again shows a clear defense for the decarbonization of the economy and asks that the necessary commitments be reached to plan this process and promote measures that guarantee a just transition. In this sense, CCOO has recalled that in the Law of measures against climate change and for the transition to a new energy model in Andalusia, it is established that municipal plans must include measures to promote this transition within the plans of Urban mobility.
In order to present union proposals to consolidate public transport as an essential element for a decarbonized economy, CCOO has requested a meeting with the Minister of Development, Infrastructure and Territorial Planning of the Junta de Andalucía, Marifrán Carazo.
Likewise, the union has prepared at the confederal level a manifesto which includes, in addition to the issues outlined, that the priority for the coming years should be to guarantee the necessary investments in infrastructures that facilitate a more sustainable transport of passengers and goods, maintaining its public ownership.
