Detailed description (English): Leading insurance company in Latvia BALTA continuously strives to improve its practices so that our business would be conducted in a way that is environmentally friendly. We have been continuously looking for ways how to decrease our fuel consumption and CO2 emissions and as of right now company's whose number of employees reach nearly 600, carfleet has been decreased to only 5 vehicles with employees being encouraged to use taxis instead.
Nevertheless, in May 2019 we took one step further and launched bicycle season with new additions to our carfleet - 3 new bicycles that employees could use as means of transportation on their way to work meetings, lunch breaks and any other short trips within the work day. They are branded BALTA bikes and in order to emphasize our focus on safety and prevention (which obviousy is especially important for insurers) we equipped them with helmets, safety locks and, naturally, insurance policies.
In addition to that BALTA has built 2 bike storages places within its head office premises where not only these 3 company's bikes are stored but in addition to that employees' private bikes are stored safely. In total both storage places can hold up to at least 100 bicycles.
BALTA actively encourages its employees to make environmentally friendly choices and these 3 bicycles help us to do so! In addition we also supported bike season's opening event by our own activities - within Latvian Road Safety Traffic Directorate (CSDD) campaign "No closer!" inviting people to measure safe distance between a bike and a motor vehicle in streets, emphasizing the importance of keeping a right distance and respecting each other in the traffic!
