Detailed description (English): The Mid-Norway branch of the Norwegian Road and Traffic Association, together with the Trondheim branch of the Norwegian Housing and City Planning Association, are co-hosting this seminar on the planning of Trondheim's Metro bus network. Plans are well under development within the city council and public transport operator AtB for a planned launch of the new Metro bus system in August 2019. Speakers from both organisations, together with a transport planning expert in SINTEF, an independent research organisation, will participate in a moderated panel discussion. The topic for the discussion is: "Planning of the Metro bus route structure and stops - mapping of customer demand and expected effects on public transport users." The target audience includes transportation and urban planning professionals, together with public transport interest groups and the general public.
Target group(s): Users of public transport and transport/urban planning professionals.
Objectives: To explain how the Metro bus will benefit Trondheim's public transport users and how to optimise its planning two years prior to opening to ensure a functional system when operations commence.
Expected Outcomes: Up to 65 participants will be able to attend the panel discussion, which is hoped to create interest in the Metro bus project and allow for debate concerning optimal execution of this considerable change to the Trondheim public transport system.
Partner: Norwegian Housing and City Planning Association - Trondheim (NGO)
