Detailed description (English): NGO Biciklo.me, UN System in Montenegro and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration organized 29th bicycle ride Critical Mass dedicated to recently adopted Paris Agreement on Climate Change which was signed by 195 countries including Montenegro.
On Saturday, January 30th, more than 150 cyclists participated in bicycle ride in Capital of Montenegro, starting at main city square and ending ride in front of the UN Eco House in city center. The main streets have been closed for traffic and available for cycling. At the end of ride, UNDP Resident Representative and UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Fiona McCluney, who also was one of participant of bicycle ride, remind how much CO2 emissions we reduce with using bicycle instead of cars: “Today's Critical Mass cycling ride helped us save 280 kg of CO2 i.e. the volume of 560 pilates balls. Imagine if all registered cars (175,000) were not used and owners joined us cycling in this Critical Mass, what the reductions would be then? - Well, much more… We would reduce emissions by 180 tons of CO2. If drivers of all cars joined Critical Mass Montenegro we would've saved CO2 enough to fill 40 Olympic swim pools. Apart from cycling, we can also contribute by supporting the anti-idling campaign, which encourages drivers to turn off their engines when waiting in a car for longer than 20 seconds. Stop GHG emissions, go CO2 neutral #MonteGreen!"
Partner: The ride is organised by the NGO Biciklo.me (http://biciklo.me/) in cooperation with the UN System in Montenegro and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro.
