Detailed description (English): This year Car-Free Day organisation in our city was not supported by the local government. We demanded one random street in the city to be "closed" to road traffic and open for all pedestrians, bicycle riders, kids. During EUROPEAN MOBILITY WEEK we were encouraging all citizens to use alternative transport instead of cars through social media posts. We invited all citizens to avoid cars especially on Car-Free Day (22 September) and to come visit the city square where our activities were planned to be held.
We organised:
- DIY cycl-o-maintenance workshop - everybody could bring their bikes and get them fixed with the help of our expert cyclist as well as learn about the basics of maintaining and fixing their bicycles.
- Miss Bicyclette - girls decorating their bicycles with available recyclable materials we provided. The voting was public, and the bicycle with the most votes won a prize.
- Mister Wheelie - boy were fanaticaly compeeting on one wheel, the fastest wheelie rider won a cool prize.
- Zumba - pedestrians without bikes could join an open-air zumba workshop.
- 16. Critical mass - promotional city bicycle ride (organised monthly on every last Friday).
